Irene Marie Nelson Clark, 87

Irene Marie Nelson Clark, 87, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Irene, the daughter of John and Maude Nelson, was born in Kalispell. She grew up in Kalispell and graduated from Flathead High School and Northern Montana College with a degree in education. 

She owned and operated a private kindergarten for many years. She also ran a public- school hot lunch program before retiring. Everyone who knew Irene relished her fun-loving personality. 

Irene took delight in varied interests like huckleberry picking, baking, gardening, and traveling. Her beautiful creations of quilts, afghans, beadwork, and other arts and crafts will be forever cherished by friends and family. An educator at heart, she taught the nuances of her artistry to many people in her life. 

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Daniel, Kalispell; four children, Evan (Luda) Washington, DC; Rhonda Aubrey (Richard) San Marcos, Texas; Greg (Bette) Plains; and Scott (Dan Cadigan) Portland, Oregon; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. 

The family thanks Melanie Zander, NP at Woodland Clinic and the medical staff at Logan Hospital for their wonderful, attentive care. In lieu of flowers please make memorial gifts to the HealthWell Foundation. The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
