| March 24, 2024 12:00 AM

T. Marcello Pierrottet, 60 of Kalispell, died Sept. 9, 2023, at home surrounded by loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Marcello was born May 2, 1963 in Quito, Ecuador, to Marcelo and Marta Pierrottet.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Julia “Julie” Pierrottet; his daughter and son-in-law, Abigail and Miles Spadone and grandsons, Ollis and Loren of Kennebunk, Maine; his son, Antonio Pierrottet of Clemson, South Carolina; his son, Christian Pierrottet of Westminster, Colorado; and his daughter, Nicole Pierrottet of Camden, Maine.

He is survived by his mother, Marta Sanchez Jauer of Westminster, Colorado; his stepfather, Rodney Wilson of Traverse City, Michigan; his brother and sister-in-law, Diego and Andrea Pierrottet of Poquoson, Virginia; his brother, Juan Carlos Pierrottet of Huntington Beach, California; his sister and brother-in-law, Maria Veronica and Neil Draxler of Westminster, Colorado; his sister and brother-in-law, Ana Christina and Matt Murra of Traverse City, Michigan; and his step-sister, Nikki Jauer of St. Louis, Missouri. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Alexander and Veronica Pierrottet of Quito, Ecuador; and his brother and sister-in-law, Ernesto and Patricia of Pensauken, New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marcello Pierrottet of Quito, Ecuador; and his stepfather, Richard Jauer of St. Louis, Missouri. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Marcello spent the first nine years of his life in Quito, Ecuador, surrounded by close family including grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. His parents divorced and when his mother remarried the family shortly relocated to Michigan with Marcello’s stepfather, Rodney Wilson. Over the years, Rodney’s work as a geologist took the family to live internationally a number of times Marcello adjusted to each move, but had particularly fond memories of time spent in Traverse City, Michigan, and of attending high school at the Jakarta International School in Indonesia. He was an avid and skilled photographer and documented much of his youthful adventures on black and white film. He attended two years of college at Northwestern Michigan College and then relocated to Lincoln, Nebraska, to get his master’s degree in architecture at the University of Nebraska — it was here that he met Julie, a fellow classmate. After graduating in 1989, they both got jobs and moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where they married and began raising their family. In 2001, Marcello had a job opportunity requiring a move to Kalispell and the family jumped at it.

Marcello and his family loved living in Montana and Marcello especially embraced the outdoor lifestyle it offered. He picked up skiing, hunting, hiking, running and bicycling. He also began his woodworking and sketching in earnest. Every endeavor that Marcello took on, he did with 110% effort, both in terms of hobbies and his professional life. He loved his work in architecture and approached every project with creativity, drive, and attention to detail. Somehow, he still made time for his family, often by sharing his hobbies with them.

Marcello was a good husband, a good father and grandfather, a good son and brother, and a good friend. He will be missed. His last project was our cabin at Star Meadows, so it is only fitting that on July 27, 2024 we will spread his ashes there with a celebration of life afterwards at our home. Please contact the family for details.
