WHITEFISH — Brooke Zetooney and Rachael Wilmot secured a pair of top two finishes in the 100 and 200 meter dashes for Whitefish at the ARM Invitational Saturday.

Despite rain falling during the 200, Zetooney and Wilmot put down the two fastest times in Class A for the season. Zetooney finished with a 25.32 for the top spot and Wilmot clocking a 25.62.

Zetooney’s 12.32 in the 100 improved on her season best and put her second in Class A for the 2024 season — .01 behind Laurel’s Kaitlyn Dantic. Hailey Ells finished third to make it an all-Whitefish podium.

Zetooney added a third win on the day in the shot put.

“I was planning on keeping the same speed (as the Top 10) if not faster,” said Zetooney, who faced different conditions each time she took the track. “I just try to stay focused on my race, throughout the day I try to settle myself and my mind and just focus on the race.”

The Bulldog girls used the sprints to seize control of the team standings, winning with 170 points over Columbia Falls (134). Polson (63). Plains (60) and Bigfork (53) rounded out the top five.

Maeve Inglefinger of Whitefish finished second in the 1,600 meters with a 5:26.37, good enough for ninth in the state. Polson’s Morgan Delaney took the victory at 5:25.39, but did not improve on her seventh best time set at the Sapphire Twilight Meet.

Whitefish’s Bailey Smith and Bigfork’s Callie Gembala battled in the javelin with Smith holding the edge at 109-5 — good enough for eighth in Class A. Gembala threw 109-2.5.

Plains’ Alexis Demming improved on her Class B-best discus mark with a throw of 127-1.

The Whitefish boys also grabbed the team title with 126 points. Bigfork (98) edged out Columbia Falls (92) for second, Polson (82) and Browning (54) finished out the top five.

Bulldog senior Carson Krack grabbed a pair of wins, setting a personal record in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.33 — second in Class A for 2024. Three other hurdlers moved into the Class A top 10: Bigfork’s Wyatt Johnson (fourth at 15.68), Whitefish’s Carson Gulick (seventh at 16.24) and Polson’s Ashten Nelson (16.62). Johnson also moved to third in Class A in the 300 hurdles at 41.56

Krack won the high jump with a jump of 6 feet. He also set a PR in the 100 meters at 11.40, finishing second behind Columbia Falls’ Malaki Simpson (11.05).

Libby’s Tristan Andersen set a PR in the javelin with a throw of 161-8 — good enough for eighth best in Class A this spring.

“It just gives me confidence to do well,” Andersen said. “I am trying to prequalify with 167 (feet) before I go to divisionals so that I don’t have to worry about a bad day at divisionals. But it is a good step forward, I need about six more feet.”
