Legion: Twins fall in Sapa-Johnsrud final

WHITEFISH — The Glacier Twins’ bats went silent in the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial championship game, in an 8-0 loss to the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen Sunday night.

Troy Shepard allowed just two hits and three walks, and fanned 10 Twins in five innings.

Glacier’’s big threat came in the fourth inning, when Stevyn Andrachick and Mason Peters hit singles and Hayden Meehan drew a one-out walk to load the bases. Shepard fanned the next two hitters to end that threat.

Pitcher Mike Glass pitched into the fifth and gave up all eight runs, though just four were earned. He walked five and struck out four.

Glacier (27-8) finished 3-1 at the tourney.

North Idaho took advantage of Libby’s defense to score eight unearned runs, as the Lakers handled Libby at the Sapa-Johnsrud.

Aiden Rose had two hits for the Loggers (13-23), and Caden and Cy Wiliams both had a double and an RBI.

Libby scored first, and then Glacier answered with 10 runs in this one.

Mikey Glass hit a two-run single in the Twins’ 10-run second inning and added a two-run double in the third to lead the offense.

All of the second-inning damage cme with two out: Glacier put together four straight singles, got a bases-loaded walk, then three more singles, and then Jake McIntyre’s two-run triple. McIntyre came in on a wild pitch for a 10-1 lead.

Libby managed one hit (a fourth-inning single by Aydan Williamson) against Twins’ pitchers Talon Murphy and Hayden Meehan, though the pair combined to walk eight Loggers. Meehan walked three and struck out four in two innings.
