Flathead girls have strong showing at Hellgate Invite

The Flathead Bravettes had another dominant showing over the weekend, getting six individual champions and 20 placers at the Missoula Hellgate Invitational.

Skye Shelmerdine (113 pounds), Hania Halverson (120), Lily McMahon (126), Emma Gambino (145), McKenna McCarthy (152) and Alliyah Stevens (285) all claimed individual titles. Six more Flathead wrestlers were in the finals.

The Bravettes, the defending state champions in this fledgling MHSA sport, have won the Flathead Invitational, Best of the West (Pasco, Wash.) and Rollie Lane Invitational (Boise) this season.

With 26 wrestlers competing at Hellgate, Flathead had the highest participation among the 12 teams involved. No team scores were available on trackwrestling.com.

Glacier had a solid showing, with Audrey Goodsell winning the 170-pound title and two more wrestlers taking second.

Ronan had a pair of champions in Saellah Hugs at 103 pounds and Tirza Two Teeth at 205. Browning’s Yasmine Tatsey-McKay claimed the 132-pound title.
