Polson boys third

HAMILTON — Colton Graham scored 19 points to cap a big Saturday, and the Polson Pirates beat Hamilton 50-36 to take third at the Western A Divisional boys tournament.

Graham, who scored 28 points in Polson’s 74-64 win over Browning earlier in the day, scored seven points in the fourth quarter while the Pirates (15-7) made a 28-25 lead hold up.

Hamilton, which beat Frenchtown 48-45 Saturday morning, takes a 15-10 record to state.

Frenchtown earned the Western A’s final berth to the State A, set for March 10-12 at the University of Montana in Missoula, by beating Browning 67-57 in the fifth place game.

In the championship game, Butte Central handled Dillon 63-47.

Polson 40, Hamilton 36

Jarrett Wilson added nine points for the Pirates, who avenged a 56-52 December loss to Hamilton that was part of an 0-3 start to the season.

Devin Shelton scored 18 points for Frenchtown, which pulled away in the second half.

Joseph Bullshoe scored 14 points for Browning, which ended up 15-7. Maurice Redhorn III added 10 for the Indians.

Dougie Peoples had another big game with 28 points and the Maroons took command from the start, opening up an 18-6 first-quarter lead. Eric Loos added 13 points and Bryson Sestrich 10 for Butte Central (23-1).

Connor Curnow scored 19 to lead Dillon (19-4).

Graham’s 28-point outburst included 11 in a third-quarter Polson surge that ate up Browning’s 37-33 halftime lead.

Trent Wilson scored eight of his 14 points in the third quarter as well. Graham’s totals included a 12-for-18 performance at the line.

Xavier Fisher hit two 3-pointers on the way to 15 points for Polson. Tommy Runningrabbit had 17 points and Tayron Burdeau 13 for Browning.
