Flathead, Glacier girls 3rd and 4th at CMR tourney

GREAT FALLS — The Flathead and Glacier girls wrestling teams worked to third and fourth place finishes at the CMR Holiday Classic in Great Falls on Saturday.

Flathead led the field after the first day but Billings Senior scored 214 to win. Butte was second at 197; Flathead scored 193, and Glacier 154.

Bella Downing (120 pounds) was the Bravettes’ only individual champion. Mykel Lee (107) and Lucille Libby (235) were fourth, Alivia Rinehart (145) was fourth and Reina Koehler (107) placed sixth for Flathead.

Glacier had two individual champs in Brooke Yeadon (107) and Jessalyn Hewitt (126). Madisyn Frazier led a 2-3 finish at 152 with Jasmine Cartwright, and Arian Conklin was fourth at 114.

“Jessalyn seems to just find a way to win. She ends up in crazy positions at times but finds a way to win,” Glacier coach Ross Dankers said. Yeadon is so solid and methodical. She has a great sense of the winning concepts. Madisyn really grinded through a tough match in the semis and it was awesome to see her grit.”

Teegan Vasquez led the Wolfpack boys and won at 132. The senior is 12-0 this season. Aiden Krause (205) and Kaleb Shine (152) were third in their weight classes, and Josh Melton was fifth at 126.

“Teegan has just remained so dominant and controlled, he is so tough on top it is rare anyone gets away without him letting them,” Dankers said. “Shine took a nice step toward beating a solid Great Falls placer from last year.”

Columbia Falls’ Justin Windauer was champion at 152. Sam Bennetts (120) was sixth for the Wildkats and Sheridan Black (138) was fifth.
