Sliter throws record 7 TD passes in Pack win

Daily Inter Lake

BOZEMAN — Gage Sliter threw a school-record seven touchdown passes Friday, and the Glacier Wolfpack threw down Belgrade 63-0 in a AA football game played at Bobcat Stadium.

Kaid Buls caught three scoring passes, and Cohen Kastelitz caught two from Sliter.

Kobe Dorcheus ran for two scores against the blitzing Panthers.

“Sometimes blowout wins can kind of get ugly,” Glacier coach Grady Bennett said. “But I really thought it was a clean performance. The guys were really focused, dialed in and performed well.

Everybody that got in the game – we got to play a lot of kids tonight — all of our kids performed well.”

Sliter completed 16 of 20 passes for 340 yards, leading the Wolfpack to a 488-70 bulge in total yards. His seven TD passes broke the Wolfpack single-game record of six thrown by Leif Erickson against Great Falls High in 2015.

Alex Haussman started the scoring with a 31-yard TD reception, on Glacier’s first drive. On Belgrade’s first offensive play, Evan Barnes intercepted a pass near midfield and a couple snaps later Sliter found Kastelitz for 49 yards and the score.

By halftime Sliter had six TD passes and it was 49-0.

“Belgrade kind of forced us to throw it,” Bennett said. “They played Cover 0 and brought heat all night long. The line protected well, and Gage stood in there well. And our receivers are pretty talented.”

Bridger Smith had a 51-yard catch and run for a score; he had 102 receiving yards. Buls’ TDs covered 27, 21 and 3 yards. The 3-yarder came after Belgrade failed to cover the second-half kickoff and Barnes recovered for the Pack on the 7-yard line.

Kastelitz had a 40-yard scoring catch in the second half; Dorcheus capped the scoring with a 13-yard run at 4:12 of the third quarter. He picked up 47 yards on seven carries, and Xander Stout rushed 10 times for 61 yards.
