Whitefish TV reality star died of drug overdose
The cause of death of a Whitefish man who appeared on a TV reality show was acute cocaine intoxication.
Mahlon Reyes, 38, died July 27, 2020, after suffering a heart attack.
Flathead County Sheriff/Coroner Brian Heino this week confirmed Reyes’ cause of death and said the manner was accidental.
Reyes was described as a star on Discovery’s long-running series “Deadliest Catch,” which chronicles crabbing boats in the Bering Sea.
According to legacy.com, Reyes worked as a deckhand on the boats Seabrooke and Cape Caution and appeared in 14 episodes of the show. His wife announced he was cremated and his ashes were to be spread in the Bering Sea and in Montana’s Swan Range mountains.
Reyes' cause of death comes a little more than one week after co-star Nick McGlashan was found dead at the age of 33 in Nashville, Tennessee.
