Brawlers, Bravettes top Big Sky in duals

Flathead’s wrestling teams started off their dual season nicely Tuesday, beating the Missoula Big Sky girls 42-12 and the boys 69-0.
It was the second time in four days that the Brave Brawlers beat the Eagle boys by that score; one difference was Fin Nadeau’s match at 145 pounds against Big Sky standout Israel Morena went to overtime before Nadeau prevailed, 6-4.
“Dane Lake also had a big win at 126,” Flathead coach Jeff Thompson said. “Diesel Thompson looked good at 120, with constant motion.”
Skye Shelmerdine led the Bravettes’ efforts with two wins at 113, while Coach Thompson also singled out Trinity Bolvin (120), McKenna McCarthy (152) and Hania Halverson (120).
“Hania Halverson just does what she does, and that is win,” Thompson said. “It was fun to wrestle at home in front of the Braves fans and put on a show.”
