Richard Lee Halverson was born on Dec. 27, 1953, in Glasgow to Jarvis and Marketa (Opheim) Halverson.

Rick grew up and attended grade school in Glasgow and Cut Bank. After spending summers on Whitefish Lake, the family relocated to Kalispell in 1967. Rick continued his schooling until he graduated from Flathead High School in 1972. Always interested in numbers, Rick studied accounting in college. He graduated from the University of Montana and became a certified public accountant.

Over his professional years Rick developed and continued his CPA practice in Whitefish, Kalispell and Great Falls.

On Dec. 14, 2000, Rick married Mara Piva in Assis, Brazil. They were happily married for many years.

Wherever Rick traveled he enjoyed his family and friends. He loved sharing jokes and stories. He loved meeting new people. Throughout his years Rick enjoyed skiing, fishing, biking and spending time at the family home on Flathead Lake. Rick found joy in listening to music.

Rick was preceded in death by his father Jarvis Halverson, and his grandparents P.K. and Hilda Halverson and Norris and Lilah Opheim.

Rick is survived by his mother Marketa Halverson Shoults of Phoenix, Arizona. Rick is also survived by his four sisters including Callie (Larry) Epstein of Essex, Sandy (Kirk) Streit of Kalispell, Patti Gallagher of Sacramento, California, and Janeen (Jeff) Winkley of Whitefish. A memorial will be held at a later date due to the current recommendation that gatherings be reduced or cancelled in Montana.
