A proposed hotel and restaurant complex outside of West Glacier is the focus of a public hearing Wednesday before the Flathead County Planning Board.

The applicant, Hunter’s Lair, LLC, is seeking a major land-use permit for its project, which would be built on a 36-acre property on the north side of U.S. 2 just southwest of West Glacier. The property was previously owned by Glacier Heli-Tours.

According to the Flathead County Planning and Zoning staff report, the project would repurpose three existing structures. The primary structure would contain four to six hotel rooms, a restaurant and a bar, and the other two structures would be made into a guest recreation center and an employee-housing structure for 10 to 14 of the estimated 65 employees.

The plan calls for building additional structures to create 30 semi-attached hotel units.

The staff report found the project to be in compliance with all regulations, and the Middle Canyon Land Use Advisory Committee approved a motion to recommend granting the major land-use permit.

In other business, the Planning Board will consider a zoning map amendment within the Evergreen Zoning District to pave the way for preliminary plat approval of a new subdivision. The applicant, Ron Nesten of RRN Holdings, LLC, is seeking to build a 16-lot subdivision called Nesten Acres on a 6.5-acre property on Kings Way just north of West Evergreen Drive. The proposed zoning map amendment would change the zoning of the subject property from R-1, suburban residential, to R-3, one-family residential.

The board meets at 6 p.m. in the Flathead County South Campus Building, 40 11th St. W., Kalispell.
