BILLINGS – The Kalispell Lakers finished their game with the Helena Senators in a different place than it started, but it didn’t go well in either venue.

Hunter Lindgren’s two-run homer capped a four-run sixth inning for the Senators at Pirtz Field, and Helena took an 8-2 win over the Lakers in a State AA Legion second-round game Thursday.

The game began at Dehler Park, but the teams were rained out of the venue in the bottom of the fourth. Forest Suaro had just hit a two-run single to put Helena in front 3-2.

The teams reconvened cross town but Kalispell’s offense didn’t arrive.

Connor Drish had three hits for the Lakers (35-21), who fell into a Friday loser-out game with the Billings Scarlets at 4 p.m., back at Dehler. Helena beat Kalispell for the fourth time in five games this season.

Ben Corriveau’s two-run double in the top of the fourth had put Kalispell ahead 2-1.

The Senators quickly answered in the bottom of the inning. Then, after a nearly-two hour delay, they loaded the bases at Pirtz but didn’t score.

Helena pushed across another run in the fifth and built a big cushion in the sixth.

Lindgren got the win on the mound, going five innings and allowed four hits and no walks, while striking out four.

Kostya Hoffman went the distance for the Lakers. He gave up 10 hits in six innings, walked four and struck out two. Just four of the eight Helena runs were earned.
