Anna R. (Cash) Drew, 86

Anna R. (Cash) Drew passed away on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Brendan House.

Anna was born July 20, 1924, to James and Mary (Beltramini) Cash in Somers. She grew up and went to school in Somers and graduated from Flathead County High School in 1942. She then attended Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane, graduating in 1945.

She was employed at Kalispell General Hospital from 1946 to 1947, and then worked at Dr. Ferree's office from 1947 to 1950.

On Aug. 21, 1948, Anna married the love of her life, James “Bud” Drew at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Somers. They had two sons, James M. Drew and Craig A. Drew.

Anna was a lifelong resident of Somers except during the Korean War when Bud was called back into the U.S. Navy. During this time they resided in Long Beach, Calif., and Philadelphia.

After returning to Somers, she went to work at the Flathead County Nursing Home in 1959, where she worked until her retirement as the director of nursing, in 1984.

She was a lifelong active member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and CCW in Somers until its closing.

 She loved reading, crocheting, crossword puzzles, penguins, playing pinochle and cribbage, baking bread and cinnamon rolls and working in her flower garden.

Bud built their home at Flathead Lake in 1960 and they always enjoyed the many visits of family and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Brendan House, Home Options Hospice and Dr. Kelly Redfield for their care of Anna.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, on Oct. 26, 2001; her parents, James Cash and Mary (Cash) Bongiani; stepfather, Mario Bongiani; three brothers, Louis, Mike and Henry (Reco) Cash; and her daughter-in-law, Dawn Drew.

Anna is survived by her sons, Craig and Charmalee Drew of Kalispell, and Jim Drew of Great Falls; special niece, Cheryl and Sam Kimball and family, Desiree Kimball-Benson and Jason Kimball, of Idaho; extended family, Dan, Hellen, Katie and Jennifer Brien of Somers; grandchildren, Megan Drew and fiance Douglas Brumbaugh, Kaytte Drew and James “Alex” Drew, all of Great Falls; along with two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Madisyn Drew-Brumbaugh. She also had three stepgrandchildren, Shad and Jennifer Wolf, Nathen and Jamie Wolf, and Justen Wolf, all of Great Falls; along with four stepgreat-grandchildren, Jerod, Tylor, Nater, Kaycee and Sarah Wolf. 

Visitation for Anna will be held from  2 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home.  Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, with burial following at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
