The final plat for a subdivision related to the Violence Free Crisis Line Inc. was approved Tuesday.

The Kalispell City Council unanimously approved the request of Director Janet Cahill.

The Crisis Line owns six lots in the four-acre subdivision and gave a 2-acre lot to the city to be used as a park, Cahill said.

Some $33,192 in improvements to the site already have been made. The owner still needs to plant 11 trees in the park and add sidewalks, curb and gutter as conditions of the final plat.

On Wednesday, Cahill said the Crisis Line wants to sell five lots to pay the $204,000 the organization still owe for the land, which was purchased in 2004.

“We’re in dire straits,” she said. Monthly payments are $1,775.

Three small lots are advertised for $40,000 each, while two larger lots will go for between $45,000 and $50,000, she said.

Those who want to purchase lots or donate to the Crisis Line can call Cahill at 752-4735.

The nonprofit Crisis Line has been in operation since 1976.

The volunteer-based organization responds to people in crisis intervention, offering peer counseling, advocacy and referrals as well as emergency shelter at The Abbie Shelter.
