Flathead boys, girls lose in Missoula

MISSOULA - Flathead fell behind early, trailing 30-19 at the half and never recovered as it lost to Missoula Big Sky 52-38 on Tuesday in a Western AA girls basketball contest.

Sam Thompson led the way for Flathead (4-2 overall and 0-1 league) offensively with 12 points. Tess Brenneman was next with nine.

Dani Sheriday had 16 points and Kristen Daugherty 10 for Big Sky (3-4 and 1-1).

Flathead hosts Missoula Sentinel on Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Missoula Sentinel 62, Flathead 40

MISSOULA - Missoula Sentinel doubled the score on Flathead in the opening quarter and held the Braves to just five points in the fourth period en route to a 22-point Western AA victory.

Flathead trailed 26-13 after eight minutes of play and 37-24 at the half.

Matt McLean's 10 points topped Flathead (2-4 and 0-1) scorers.

Riley King had 20 points for Sentinel (3-5 and 3-0) and Alec Bray finished with 11.

Flathead entertains Missoula Big Sky on Saturday, 4:30 p.m.

Columbia Falls JV 53

COLUMBIA FALLS - Josh Bray hit an eight-foot jump shot from the baseline with 39 seconds remaining to lift Stillwater Christian School to a nonconference victory over Columbia Falls JV on Monday.

Columbia Falls JV and Stillwater Christian both missed free throws after that, and a trey by the hosts at the buzzer was off the mark.

Bray finished with 12 points and was one of three double-figure scorers for the victors. Trent Burton led the way with 14 and Trevor Holladay added 10.

Anthony Correa and Brian Marcille both had 11 points for Columbia Falls and Luke Kazlauskas totaled 10

Stillwater (11-1) hosts Clark Fork, Idaho, on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
