Joy from heaven marked the new year for parents Jeremy and Tiffany Crowley.

Their newborn baby, Nevaeh Crowley, was the first baby born at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in 2011.

Nevaeh, which is heaven spelled backwards, was born at 2:15 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

The parents were expecting their baby to be born on New Year’s Eve, but it didn’t happen that way. “I’m glad she was the first baby,” Jeremy said. “It was kind of a shock.”

Tiffany went through six hours of hard labor before giving birth to her fifth child. She was in the hospital for 20 hours total.

“I was exhausted,” Tiffany said. “I almost gave up” to try again later on New Year’s Day.

Nevaeh weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was 20.75 inches long.
