The Missoula Hellgate Knights used a breakaway goal in the second half to bump the Glacier girls soccer team out of first place in Western AA on Thursday.

Lisa Dallapiazza scored unassisted in the early stages of the second half and the Knights won 1-0 at Glacier High to move into first at the midway point of the season.

Hellgate improved to 3-1-2 while Glacier is 3-3 and is second with just under a month left before playoffs start.

Glacier goalie Patty Hughes made nine saves in the game and continued her season streak of not allowing more than one goal in a game. The junior has one shutout this season.

"We were pretty well matched," Glacier coach Paul Holmgren said. "We just need to be a little bit crisper on our shots, and a little more selective on those shots we do take.

"All in all, we're not doing bad we just got to step up in the second half of the season," he added.
