An Evergreen recycling company runs a program where car owners can turn in their clunkers for cash. A pickup truck, reportedly one of the junkers, was stolen Wednesday. Flathead County Sheriff's deputies are investigating.

Deputies told the occupants of a car hanging out in the wee hours of Wednesday morning on land owned by a Columbia Falls company to move along.

A man showed up at a Bierney Creek Road residence threatening to kill himself or someone else.

Tools were stolen from a pickup truck on Meadowlark Drive. A real estate sign was destroyed on East Lakeshore Drive.

A woman who said she was selling vacuum cleaners came to the door of a Sunrise Drive home offering to clean the resident's carpets, but had no supplies. The resident thought this odd and called authorities.

Someone broke into a Ridgewood Drive home Tuesday night, but apparently didn't take anything.

Threatening letters showed up at a Castle View Drive residence, prompting the owner to notify deputies.

Deputies were called late Tuesday to remove an intoxicated pedestrian from outside an Evergreen gas station and to settle an altercation on Prairie View Road.

A Hungry Horse resident allegedly threatened a couple of days ago wanted advice on how to handle the situation.

Deputies received 168 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Kalispell police

Kalispell police responded to Two Mile Drive after a woman had trouble picking up her 13-year-old daughter, who reportedly got out of the car then refused to get back in.

An employee of a business on Corporate Drive said they were assaulted by a former employee, who took off - intoxicated - toward Kila.

Two teens showed up at a College Avenue residence looking for a man. When the person who answered the door told them he wasn't there, the pair went around back and tried the trailer's window.

Someone reached through the cracked window of a car on First Avenue East and escaped with a laptop computer. A purse was stolen from a car on 10th Street West.

A 15-year-old Summit Ridge Drive girl called police complaining that her mother hit her. The mother, however, said her daughter was out of control, refusing to do her chores or return the car keys.

It turned out a man at the drive-through of a West Idaho Street bank is believed to have passed forged checks. Officers tracked him down and ended up citing him for traffic offenses.

Officers counseled a man and his son after they got into an argument on Third Avenue East.

Officers received 83 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of partner assault and trespassing after responding to a disturbance on Lupfer Avenue. The man allegedly attacked his estranged wife.

Officers received 40 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police arrested a 30-year-old man on a misdemeanor city warrant.

Officers received 19 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Alarms

The Columbia Falls Fire Department responded to the south side of U.S. 2 east of the intersection with Montana 40 to extinguish a brush fire.

The Whitefish Fire Department was paged out to reports of an explosion followed by smoke off U.S. 93.

An elderly Terrace Drive man fell down, injuring his back. Paramedics with Three Rivers EMS and the Columbia Falls Fire Department took him to North Valley Hospital.

Three Rivers EMS responded to Ninth Street West to treat a woman having an allergic reaction. She was taken to the hospital.
