Carolyn Louise Van, 76

Carolyn Louise Van, 76, passed away on Oct. 21, 2009, at her home in San Jose, Calif. She died peacefully with members of her family at her side. Carolyn was born in Shelby, Iowa, on July 20, 1933. Her parents were Hugo and Emma Ploen. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, George Ted; her son, Gregory Van of Valencia, Calif.; her daughter, Heidi Fallone; her son-in-law, Ed Fallone, and her grandchildren, Emma and Andrew Fallone. Heidi and her family reside in Whitefish Bay, Wis. Carolyn attended Drake College in Des Moines, Iowa, for two years. She then joined United Airlines as a flight attendant. She was assigned to New York City, where she met her husband, George. They made their home in Floral Park, N.Y.; Sunnyvale, Calif. and Dolylestown, Pa. For the last 19 years, they resided in San Jose with a summer home in Kalispell. Carolyn was active in PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization); the Presbyterian Church in Kalispell; the Villages Chapel in San Jose; and the Pioneer Auto Club in Kalispell. Carolyn enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, hiking, Western art shows and traveling. Her memorial service will be held in San Jose at the Villages Club on Nov. 15. She will be interred at Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell at a later date. Contributions in memory of Carolyn may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Villages Medical Auxiliary in San Jose.
