United Way will put a spotlight on its 2009 fundraising campaign with member agency booths set up at Kalispell Center Mall Oct. 13 through 18. This year's theme is "Touch a Life."

On Saturday, Oct. 17, there will be entertainment, face painting, balloons and clowns.

A full schedule of entertainment is planned at the JC Penney court:

n 11 a.m. to noon - Guitar soloist Joe Procita

n Noon to 1 p.m. - Big Sky Fiddlers

n 1 to 2 p.m. - Academy of Performing Arts

n 2 to 2:45 p.m. - RSVP Kitchen Band of the Flathead Valley

n 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. - RSVP Sunshine Chorus

n 3:30 to 4 p.m. - Western Line Dancers

The fund drive continues through Dec. 31.

A recurring theme of the campaign is encouraging residents to "give, advocate and volunteer."

The monetary goal for the campaign, which benefits a variety of helping agencies throughout Flathead County, is $850,000.

Flathead Valley residents are encouraged to learn about the services available provided by United Way.

Last year, United Way member agencies helped nearly 57,000 people in need. Ninety-nine percent of all funds raised stay in local communities to help local citizens.
