Reginald Dean Smith, 69

Reginald Dean Smith, 69, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at the Heritage Place in Kalispell. He was born on Nov. 15, 1939, in Kalispell, to Reginald and Amy (Kinniburgh) Smith.

Dean received his early education in Kalispell and began working in his uncle's stud mill at a young age.

On Dec. 15, 1961, Dean married Linda Frolin in Kalispell. In 1965 the couple moved to Fairmont, Minn., where Dean worked in a plastic plant for about three years. Three years later the couple moved back to Kalispell, where Dean worked for the Superior Sawmill in Columbia Falls. He also worked for Plum Creek at the Evergreen Division for 26 years.

Dean was a musician and played lead guitar with groups in the Flathead as well as in Minnesota. He also loved to hunt and fish.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, an infant son, Jody Dean, and son, Travis; and two brothers, Richard and Don.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the family home; and one son, Thomas Smith.

Funeral services for Dean will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, in the Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Tim Bartholomew of Stillwater Free Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Glacier Memorial Gardens.
