A man pleaded innocent Thursday to breaking into a Kalispell motel room and punching the person inside unconscious.

During his arraignment in Flathead County District Court John J. Olson, 27, entered a not guilty plea to aggravated assault.

According to court records, a woman called Kalispell police on May 24, 2008 to report that Olson had broken through the door of a room at the Blue and White Motel on East Idaho Street and attacked her boyfriend.

The alleged victim was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with broken bones in his face.

Olson's attorney, Sean D. Hinchey, said Thursday facts of the case would come out at trial, which is scheduled for the June jury term.

If convicted, Olson could face 20 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
