Avery captures MSGA junior championshipThe Daily Inter Lake

BILLINGS - Teigan Avery of Kalispell won the girls 13-under age division at the 43rd Montana State Golf Association Junior Championships on Tuesday at Lake Hills Golf Club.

Avery shot 88-89-177. Par at Lake Hills is 72 on the 5,226-yard layout.

Kortney McNeil of Billings, 91-87-178, was second.

Avery's final 18 included a birdie on the par 4, 297-yard 12th hole.

She trailed by one at the turn Tuesday, but shot a 42 on the back nine to win it.

Avery dropped a five-foot bogey putt on the 18th hole, while McNeil finished with a double bogey.

Avery is just the second 11-year-old girl to win the 13-under division.

Last week at the Big I Junior Golf Tournament in Bozeman, Avery finished second to McNeil.

Ryggs Johnston, 9, of Libby turned in some impressive scores in the boys 13-under division. He shot 84-85-169.
