CMR stops Glacier at AA state softball tourney

HELENA - Glacier managed to score first, but it was all C.M. Russell after that as the Rustlers rolled to a 10-2 loser-out victory on Friday at the Class AA state softball tournament.
CMR took a 6-1 lead after three innings.
"In the first we had the bases loaded and no outs," Glacier coach Joel Bemis said.
"I was hoping we would score more."
Glacier added a run in the fifth.
Glacier, competing in its first state tournament, finished with an 11-13 mark overall.
Glacier, which totaled seven hits, was led by Zoey Pettit, 2-for-4.
"I thought we hit the ball well," Bemis said.
"They just weren't timely hits, didnt have girls on base."
CMR beat Glacier 6-4 in a regular-season matchup.
Butte dropped Glacier on Thursday, 11-0 in first-round play.
"It was a good learning experience for us," Bemis said.
"It was good for our girls to see what level you have to be at to compete at state."
The state tournament ends today.
