Lakers, Venturini pound Miles City

MILES CITY - Mario Venturini tossed a 2-hitter and Pat Hergesheimer homered in Kalispell's 11-0 loser-out victory over Miles City on Sunday at the Montana/Alberta Class AA American Legion state baseball tournament.
Veturini struck out 12 batters and walked two in a game shortened to 7 innings by the 10-run mercy rule.
The Lakers (35-22) clubbed 11 hits, led by Hergesheimer's 2-for-3 performance, which also included a double. He finished with two RBIs.
Teammate Mike O'Connell, 2-for-4, had three RBIs.
Miles City finished its season with a 7-42 mark.
Kalispell led 7-0 after two innings and scored in every inning but the sixth.
The Lakers are involved in loser-out play today.
In other action Sunday, Missoula eliminated Medicine Hat 13-6. In the winners' bracket, Bozeman downed the Billings Royals, 6-4, while the Billings Scarlets tripped Lethbridge, 12-1.
NOTE: The Inter Lake was given incorrect information on Saturday regarding Kalispell's loser-out opponent for Sunday. It was reported that Kalispell would play Missoula.
