County buying Kalispell house

Flathead County is buying a house on First Avenue West to lock up space needed for future parking and facility needs.

The commissioners on Tuesday authorized the County Attorney's Office to sign closing papers on the home at 1115 First Ave. W. currently owned by Jon Sonju.

The selling price is $145,000.

The home is near the county's Earl Bennett Building and will be rented until the county needs the lot for future expansion, County Administrative Office Mike Pence said.

The commissioners some time ago made a decision to consider purchasing property in that area as it came on the market for sale, he added.
