Dorothy L. Gallivan, 79, "went to heaven" Monday evening, Jan. 19, 2009, at her home in Kalispell, where she lived with her husband, Leonard, and her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jim Holmquist.

She was born Jan. 25, 1929, in Boise, Idaho, to John and Dora Brooks.

She was married to Leonard Gallivan on June 15, 1947, in Boise, Idaho.

They pastored in the Church of the Nazarene for many years.

She held a master's degree in elementary education, teaching the majority of the time at the fourth grade level.

She loved music and played the organ and piano and sang.

As her health began to fail, they moved from their home in Nampa, Idaho, to join their daughter and son-in-law in Kalispell.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard; sister, Cora Spiva, of Hickory, N.C.; brother, John Brooks, of Longview, Wash.; sons, Dave Gallivan of Riverside, Calif., and Bob Gallivan of Boise, Idaho; and daughter, Karen, of Kalispell. She has eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Kalispell Nazarene Church, officiated by the Rev. Ed Koteskey.
