Jean Robinson, 80, passed away on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at her residence in Lakeside. She was born on Oct. 31, 1928, in Winnetka, Ill., the daughter of Andrew Thomas and Harriett Ida (Mohr) Kearney.

Jean was raised in Chicago and received her early education there. She also received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Northwestern University in Chicago. She worked as a proofreader for Encyclopedia Brittanica for one year before she was married. She married David Wright Robinson on Nov. 24, 1951, in Winnetka, Ill.

Even though she was born and raised in a large city she was an eager transplant into Montana. She was a Brownie and Cub Scout leader in Libby, and also was active in the Bridge Club and Modern Arts Club charity. She was also regional coordinator of the Heart Fund in 1966 and 1967.

She and David moved to Greenville, S.C., from the fall of 1969 until 1972. At that time they moved back to Great Falls, where Jean was a member of the P.E.O. In 1987, the couple moved permanently to Lakeside, where Jean was very active in the Lakeside Community Club and Bridge Club. She was also secretary - treasurer for the Investment Club. Jean loved all animals, but especially her dogs, which she had throughout her entire life.

She enjoyed snow skiing, hiking, as well as needlepoint and bridge playing. She was a swim team mom and her kids' biggest fan. She went to every concert, sporting event and activity for both her children and grandchildren.

Jean had so many fond memories of family and friends at Crystal Lake cabin and ski vacations with children, grandchildren and friends. She loved being a mother and living in Montana and all that it had to offer.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Robinson; sons, Davy, Tommy and Mark; and daughters, Alice and Meg.

She is survived by her daughter, Polly Addison, and John, of Mercer Island, Wash.; her son-in-law, Joe Cielak; daughter-in-law, Sabrina Robinson; and nine grandchildren, Megan, Bennett and David Addison, Sperry Robinson, Louis and Jonny Cielak, and Andrew, Kevin and Crystal Robinson.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Highland Cemetery in Great Falls. A reception will follow at 3 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in Great Falls.
