Eames on top of Mid-Am state golf

Dave Eames of Billings fired another 1-under 71 to take the lead after 36 holes in the 23rd annual Montana State Men's Mid-Am golf tournament on Friday at Briarwood Country Club.
Eames holds a one-shot advantage on Brandon Davison of Billings, 72-71-143.
Davison captured the Montana State Amateur title in 2003.
Eames began the second round with a 70-foot birdie putt on the first hole. He went on to record seven birdies and five pars. He bogeyed six holes.
He enjoyed a three-shot edge until back-to-back bogeys on 16 and 17.
First-day leader Jeff Ballard of Billings is sitting third, 66-78-144, followed by Parker Heller of Helena, 73-74-147, and Cory Slocum of Missoula, 74-74--148.
Dan Brown, the 1999 Mid-Am champion, had rounds of 77-80-157.
Ballard had a triple-bogey on the eighth hole.
Mark Mance of Whitefish, who was sitting 22nd on Thursday after posting a 79, is now tied for ninth with a 153 total. Mance shot a 74 on Friday.
Billings has six golfers in the top 10.
The 54-hole event ends today.
This year's field consists of 110 golfers.
