Martel dominates racing in Hobby Stock

Dustin Martel had a perfect night of racing last Saturday at Montana Raceway Park as he swept all the honors in the Hobby Stock class. Martel posted the fast time, 15.38 seconds, and followed that with victories in the dash, heat and main event.
He started the evening tied for the points' lead with Dave Oldham, who finished second in the dash and third in the heat and main event. Both came into the action with 190 points.
Russel Smyth almost matched Martel's dominance, but in the Compacts. Smyth had the fast time, 15.17, and crossed the finished line first in the heat and main event. Jeff Kikendall won the dash.
Ray Young and Lanny Frye split top finishes in the Bombers. Young had the fast time, 16.85, and placed first in the dash. Frye won the heat and main.
Five different drivers earned bragging rights in the Hornets. Harvey Maze had the fast time, 17.86, Slyvia Meyer won the dash, Keith Sheppard and Katie Pilsch were heat winners, and Dirk Meyer won the main.
The Limited Sportsman was the unlucky class, watching stormy weather cancel its main event after one lap. Jason Robinson turned in the fast time, 14.549, Zach Mongan won the dash, and Josh Robinson took first place in the heat race.
Racing continues Saturday with the 7th annual Legend Thunder. Racing will begin at 6 p.m. This is a national qualifying race.
Bandoleros and Thunder Roadsters will also make an appearance Saturday.
