Anne Archie died on Sept. 24, 2006, at her home in Kalispell. Her courage, independent spirit, and wry wit remained intact through nearly a year of ups and downs with lung cancer.

Anne was born and raised in Wisconsin, where she married Bill, her high school sweetheart. In 1978, she moved with Bill and their four children to Columbia Falls. The mountains and streams brought and kept them here, and Anne became an avid fly angler.

After the kids left home, Anne and Bill bought a cabin in the hills south of Kila. Anne enjoyed quiet living in the forest, watching deer in the meadow, pitching horseshoes, and battling the brush.

Anne worked for many years in Dr. Newman's dental office in Columbia Falls, and then at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. She was known as the person who kept things running behind the scenes, with a tremendous organizational skill and commitment.

Anne is remembered with love by many, including Bill, her husband of 43 years; the families of her four children, Chris and Cari; Peter and Alexa; Michele and Howard; Paul and Diane; and Greg and Teresa, Lauren and Emily; and her brother and sisters, Rick Heinzen, Debbi McKim and Mary Heinzen.

A celebration of Anne's life will be scheduled in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Home Options Hospice, 175 Commons Loop, Suite 100, Kalispell, MT 59901.
