Heavy snow has closed a section of Glacier National Park's Going-to-the-Sun Road near Logan Pass.

The temporary closure was announced early Thursday for the area from Big Bend to Logan Pass. It will be reopened as soon as conditions permit, park officials said.

As of Monday, the road was closed for the remainder of the season just east of Logan Pass to accommodate construction work. That work is being carried out on a 2.5-mile stretch of road near the East Tunnel.

Visitors can travel a 15-mile stretch of road from St. Mary to Siyeh Bend from the east. From the west entrance, visitors can travel to Logan Pass, unless there are temporary closures that result from weather conditions.
