POLSON - Ditto.

The Whitefish boys and girls soccer teams both posted 5-0 victories Monday over Polson in non-confereence matches.

The WHS boys moved to 8-0 on the Class A season while the WHS girls are now 6-2-0.

Both teams are back in action Sept. 26 hosting Columbia Falls. The boys will play at 5 p.m. with the girls match scheduled for 7.

Boys

Shae Heberling scored two goals during a two-minute span near the midway point of the first half as Whitefish took a 3-0 lead.

Alex Konopatzke opened the scoring just under seven minutes into the action with a penalty kick.

Jonas Megstadt, who assisted on a first-half score, and Giuliano Gassara Levy added goals in the second half.

Whitefish is now 5-0 in non-league matches. It was the team's third shutout of the fall campaign.

"We're extremely happy with our strike rate," said WHS coach O'Brien Byrd.

"We're obviously continuing to score a lot of goals."

Byrd said the team continues to "struggle a little bit in midfield play. Our transition isn't quick enough and we're improving on that."

Byrd said the team has a week to "make sure all our screws are tightened before we play Columbia Falls at home. Looking for a nice four days of practice, sort everything out and get mentally prepared for the big game."
