GREAT FALLS - Seth Grossman led the Flathead boys cross country team to another individual title on Friday at chilly Anaconda Hills Golf Course.

The Flathead senior was timed in 16 minutes, 26 seconds, beating runner-up Daniel Jackson of Bozeman by 17 seconds.

Flathead, which finished with a score of 40, also had two more runners in the top 10. Carl Nystuen was fourth, 16:49; and Seth Svennungsen was seventh, 17:00.

"Grossman took the lead around the 2-mile mark and just kinda extended that lead from there to the finish," said FHS assistant coach Nick Hanson.

Bozeman finished second, 48, in the team standings with Helena High third, 94.

Runners had to contend with a temperature of 35 degrees and gusty winds.

The Flathead girls finished fourth with a 114 total. Billings Senior took top honors with 60 points, Billings West was second with 87 and Bozeman third with 92.

The Bravettes were missing Andrea Yeager, who did not make the trip because of an illness. She is the team's No. 4 runner.
