Clavie A. 'Kay' Lupton, 90

| October 24, 2006 1:00 AM

While at home and with her family at her side, Clavie A. "Kay" Lupton "went to be with her Lord" on Oct. 12, 2006, in Spokane. Kay was born the youngest of two daughters, to Charles W. and Madeline A. Anderson, in Opheim on March 18, 1916.

She graduated with honors from Montana State University in 1936, with majors in home economics and history. After graduation, she taught home economics in Scobey as well as Cut Bank.

Kay and Verne Lupton met in 1940, while both were working for the Farm Security Administration in Kalispell. The same day as Verne's commissioning in the United States Army Air Corps, they were married at Scott Field, St. Louis, Mo., on Nov. 28, 1942.

After Verne's discharge from the Army in 1945, they first lived and worked in Polson, until 1948, when they moved to Kalispell. Devoting their lives to the raising of their four children and the development of their business, Snappy ServiSenter, they lived happily in Kalispell, until finally moving to Coeur d'Alene in 1986.

Through the years 1984 to 2003, Kay and Verne enjoyed the winter months with friends and traveling family members in Mesa, Ariz. Finally in 2003, they moved to Spokane, where they lived until the time of Kay's passing.

Kay embraced life. She was actively involved in their business, and all of the activities that enriched her children's lives, including PTA, teaching Sunday school, and as a leader in Cub Scouts. She applied endless energy to her faith, volunteering extensively in Circle and the Presbyterian Women's Association.

Kay was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister Mary, and son-in-law Kevin.

She is survived by her husband, Verne; her four children and spouses, B.J. Lupton and wife, Mary, of Kalispell, Scott Lupton and wife, Kay, of Rochester, Minn., Shaunda Gaffney-Barile and husband, Michael, of Greeley, Colo., and Kent Lupton and wife, Cindy, of Spokane; grandchildren, Mark and wife, Kristi, Doug and wife, Kasey, Emily, Korri, Joel, Brecca, Brynne, Jonathan and Annie; and great-grandchildren, Rylee and Samuel Vern.

Memorial services for Kay will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Northview Bible Church in Spokane; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at First Presbyterian Church in Kalispell. After each memorial service, the family will be greatly blessed with your company and fellowship, as we enjoy light refreshment together.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane, 121 South Arthur, Spokane, WA 99202; or Hope Ranch, P.O. Box 4841, Whitefish, MT 59937.
