Food drive set for Sunday at mall

Bring your nonperishable food items to the front foyer.

Letter carriers food drive is today

Gather some nonperishable groceries this morning for the annual letter carriers food drive today in Kalispell. All the food collected goes to community food banks.

Put your donations in plastic bags and leave them by your mailboxes before mail delivery. Currently the food banks are most in need of canned tomato products, canned fruits and vegetables; pasta, such as macaroni and cheese, spaghetti and macaroni; and baby food.

Beardance Club hosts barbecue today

The Beardance Club hosts a rummage, bake sale and barbecue from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the Beardance Club House, near the Bear Dance trail head on the East Shore of Flathead Lake.

Raffle tickets will be sold for a variety of prizes, including a stay at the Belton Chalet, Bigfork Playhouse tickets, and a cruise from Questa Sailing Charters. The money raised supports scholarships, community building and charity.

The hamburger and hot dog barbecue starts at 11 a.m., A variety of homemade pies will be available for purchase, and an indoor rummage sale is planned all day.

Yellow Bay club hosts cherry festival

The Yellow Bay Community Club hosts its third annual Flathead Cherry Fest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Vendors will be offering locally made handcrafted items for homes and gardens, along with a bake sale, entertainment and door prizes.

A hearty lunch will be available for a nominal cost, along with hot dogs and snacks, pies and coffee.

The Yellow Bay Clubhouse is at mile marker 18 on Montana 35.

Prospectors group hosts spring kickoff

The Northwest Montana Gold Prospectors group is having its spring kickoff at 10 a.m. today. There will be plenty of demonstrations, a potluck and raffle, games for children, and metal-detector panning contests. Watch for signs and balloons on Bernie Road in Columbia Heights.

Bibler tours continue today

The Bibler Home and Gardens tours begin at 9 a.m. today and Sunday and last 1 1/2 hours. Tour the Bibler home featuring lovely antiques, fine art and heirloom Persian carpets, as well as the spectacular gardens and ponds against the panoramic backdrop of the Flathead Valley.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $3 for children. For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Flathead Valley Community College Foundation office at 756-3963.

Proceeds benefit college programs and scholarships.

Libby hosts health fair on asbestos

The third annual Asbestos Health Fair, "New Directions in Asbestos Health," is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in the Ponderosa Room at Libby City Hall. The health fair is free, and door prizes will be awarded.

Several speakers are scheduled throughout the day, and information booths will be staffed by organizations and providers of services related to asbestos. Everyone is welcome to attend.
