Sheriff's office provides public safety courses

The first topic is on dealing with hostility and violence in the workplace.

Future classes will be on personal protection for women, child safety and abduction resistance education, narcotics awareness and recognition for citizens, safety strategies for senior citizens, 911 crime reporting, and citizen pepper-spray certification.

Course length can be tailored from 45 minutes to four hours.

Flathead Electric Cooperative donated money for the work-place violence program, according to Detective Travis Bruyer of the Sheriff's Office.

The Community Awareness and Violence-Resistance Education program is designed to promote public safety and enhance community relations and workplace safety.
