MISSOULA - Brianna Compton threw a no-hitter, and Flathead relied on smart base running and timely hits to blank Missoula Hellgate 6-0 on Tuesday in Class AA softball action.

Compton fanned 13 Hellgate batters and allowed just two base runners in the seven inning contest.

She walked a batter in the fifth inning and a Hellgate batter reached base on an error in the seventh.

"Everything was working (for her)," said FHS coach Dale Beerman of Compton's performance.

"I didn't call many change-ups. She got two strikes (on the batters) and went after them."

The victory was the fifth in six games for the Bravettes, who are now 5-5 in league play.

Flathead stole seven bases in the contest with Heather Haegele and Christina Zorn both getting two.

The Bravettes used a double between left and center field by Liz Dwyer and an RBI by Zorn to scored four times in the third inning.

Zorn also had an RBI single in the fourth and Julie Robertson had an RBI single in the fifth.

No boxscore was available.

Flathead hosts Libby on Thursday, 7 p.m., in a non-league contest.
