Rapids set try out dates; open play April 30

The Flathead Rapids, a member of the Montana Premier Soccer League (MPSL), will conduct tryouts on April 8 from 10 a.m.-noon and April 9 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Grouse Mountain Lodge fields in Whitefish.

The league is for men ages 18-and-above.

The Rapids are one of seven teams that will debut in the new soccer league this spring. They will play teams from Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena and Missoula.

Regular-season action is set to begin April 30 with double-header games, each 90 minutes long, played every other Sunday.

The season will conclude with a tournament June 24-25. That winner will qualify for the regional U.S.A.S.A. tournament.

The Rapids will compete in a 7-on-7 non-league tournament in Stevensville on April 23. They open MPSL play the following Sunday in Bozeman with matches against Helena and Bozeman.

The home opener is May 7 in Whitefish at Grouse Mountain versus Missoula and Helena. That's also the team's only home games on the schedule.
