FGA's Level 4 team 2nd in state; Weigand qualifies for regionals

Flathead Gymnastics Academy's (FGA) Level 4 squad took second place, besting seven other teams at the Montana State Gymnastics championships in Bozeman last Saturday.
The state meet is the final annual competition for gymnasts in Levels 4-7.
FGA's Amanda Weigand, a Level 8 gymnast, placed third on beam and fourth in the all-around (AA) at state, which qualifies her to compete in the Region Two championships. Additionally, as one of the top eight Level 8 gymnasts in the state, Weigand also won a spot on the Montana state team which competes with teams of the eight top gymnasts from the regional states of Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
The Region Two championships will be held in Boise, Idaho, March 30-April 2.
Individually in Level 4 action, Kolbie Sutton placed third on beam in the child category. Natalie Newberry tied for first and placed second on vault and beam, respectively, while Kylee Buck tied for first on vault.
In Level 5 competition, Jessamyn Tempel tied for fourth on vault and teammate Brooke Neater won the bars competition. Jolene Thiel topped the AA in Level 6 and won the bars and tied for second on floor. Teammate Kassidy Williams took second on vault.
