Two New Orleans male youths

| March 19, 2006 1:00 AM

Two New Orleans male youths decided they needed a car to drive home from Kalispell. So they went to the Kari Dodge dealership on U.S. 2 East Saturday morning, pushed away a saleswoman, jumped into a yellow Daytona Charger and zoomed away.

Flathead County Sheriff's Office deputies chased the car along U.S. 2 and then south on Montana 35. The Charger hit speeds of 120 mph, and deputies slowed down to encourage the suspect's car to slow down as well.

Lake County sheriff's deputies set up spikes on Montana 35 about two miles south of Finley Point. The stolen car stopped just before hitting the spikes, and the two youths were arrested 39 minutes after they stole the car.

Also on Saturday, deputies received a report of a man whacking a truck with a machete.

A man was beaten up in downtown Bigfork early Saturday morning.

A window was broken at Glacier Mountain Fellowship Church on U.S. 93 south of Kalispell.

Old tires, building materials and cement slabs were illegally dumped at a site along Smith Lake Road.

Items were stolen from a vehicle on Elm Street.

A trailer was stolen from Western Automotive.

On Friday, a cooler of beer was stolen from the LaSalle Campground, and a tool box was stolen from Pacific Iron and Steel.
