Aleen B. Chestnut, 90

Aleen B. Chestnut, a resident of the Flathead Valley, passed away June 13, 2006, in Whitefish. She was born Aleen Byington in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, on June 6, 1916, the daughter of Henry and Viola Byington. She graduated from high school in Lava Hot Springs in 1934. She attended the University of Idaho in Moscow and graduated in 1939.

Upon graduation, she married John H. Chestnut and moved to his hometown of Havre. She lived in Havre for 46 years until she moved to the Flathead in 1985 to be closer to her two children, Tom and Mary Ann.

She retired from Buttrey Foods in 1981 and was active throughout her life as a volunteer.

She enjoyed skiing, golf, hiking and gardening.

She is survived by daughter, Mary Ann; and son, Tom, and his children, grandson, Scott and granddaughter, Shelby. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Braden Chestnut.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Chestnut; parents, Henry and VIola Byington; sister, Lucille Nix; and brother, Dow Byington.
