| June 14, 2006 1:00 AM

Francis "Frank" S. Redmond, 82, passed away Friday, June 9, 2006, at his residence in Kalispell.

He was born on April 4, 1921, in Spokane to William Sumner and Vera JoAnn (Bigney) Redmond. His early years were spent in Spirit Lake, Idaho, where he enjoyed swimming, biking, hunting, getting into mischief with his best friend, Sam, and Model T Fords. When he was 16, the family moved to Somers for mill work. There he met his future wife, Janice Adams.

Frank graduated from Flathead County High School and then was drafted into the Army for World War II. He was a sergeant and wounded April 17, 1945, at Luzon. Not expected to live or even walk again, Frank proved doctors wrong and lived on. Frank married Janice in 1948 and they had two daughters, Janet and Wendy.

Most of Frank's time was spent under the hood of old Fords, teasing people, going for drives and having fun. He worked for Westmont Tractor and Northwest Parts from 1956 to 1986.

As a grandpa, he taught the kids the foot bone was connected to the funny bone, how to change tires and pump gas. "He will live on in our hearts."

Frank was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

He is survived by his daughters, Janet Redmond of Columbia Falls, and Wendy Decker of Kalispell.

Graveside services for Francis "Frank" Redmond will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 16, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Military honors will be by the United Veterans of The Flathead.

Johnson Mortuary and Crematory is caring for Frank's family.
