After two weeks without races because of wet weather at Montana Raceway Park, Saturday's Compact Car Division race made a lasting impact on fans on a night reserved for honoring U.S. Armed Forces veterans.

Only three of the 12 compact cars finished the main event. Halfway through the race, on lap 11, a car lost control coming around turn No. 2 and caused Adam Kinkle's car to spin around and go head on into the wall. His car went straight up in the air with his undercarriage in full view of the fans. Kinkle's side of his car tore off and his roll cage broke. By the time a green flag came out, only Jeff Carter of Hamilton and fellow rookies Bill Mitchell and Alan Murray finished the race. Carter won the race.

In the Bomber Divison, which was racing for only the second time this season, retired Highway Patrolman Don Denning posted the fast time of 16:79. But it was Malcom Kruse taking the win in the trophy dash over Lanny Fry. In the main event, Kruse took the early lead staying in front of the pack until late in the race when Preston Kinnison took the lead. Due to an infraction, the top three finishers were Bill McCallum, Kruse and Fry.

The Limited Sportsman Division raced its third race of the season and Eric Brechel took the fastest time. Rookie driver Josh Robinson was in victory lane in the trophy dash beating out Micah Sampson and Zach Havens, who graduated from Flathead High School earlier in the day.

Jake Grosswiler set the fastest time in the Legends race at 14:839. John Logan took home the trophy in the trophy dash in his first race of the season by beating out Cliff Nelson. There was a B main race to give some of the rookie legend racers some more time on the track. Grosswiler beat master driver Darrell Buckingham from Calgary and Spike Schultze for the A main victory.

Kicking off the night was the entry level class, the Hornets. In the second race of the season, Silvia Meyer beat her husband, Dirk, for her first win ever in the trophy dash. Last week's winner Josh Davis won both the heat and the main races.

Racing continues Saturday with the NW Late Model Shoot-out 150.

The Legends and Bombers will also race. Qualifying will be at 6 p.m. and racing starts 7.
