Visit artist studios in Bigfork

Five Bigfork studios will be included in the tour. Visitors need their own transportation to each studio.

The artists whose studios will be visited are:

. Kathy Bonnema Leslie. Leslie employs the ancient art of serigraphy to produce vibrant, contemporary landscapes. Each serigraph print can require from 5 to 30 separate screens, one for each color, and each screen is hand drawn by Leslie. A printing edition of 40 to 50 serigraphs can take from two weeks to a month to complete.

Leslie is also an proficient water color artist utilizing a unique technique of layered glazing which produces rich, vital harmonic colors and contrasts in her paintings.

Bill Knoll. An interpretive painter who likes the open feeling of western Montana, Knoll creates images capturing that spirit. He has been painting for the 10 years, using large brushes and the occasional palette knife. Knoll is also a builder, and his studio is a converted barn which he renovated with all old and recycled materials. It sits on the grounds of the O'Duachain Inn which he and his wife, Mary, own and operate.

Lee Proctor. Proctor is accomplished metal artist, with his architectural work commissioned for homes throughout the Flathead Valley. After 25 years forging metal marvels, he went to Pilchuk, the renowned art glass school, to learn the artistry of glass blowing. Now he creates work in either metal or glass, and also integrates the two skills into distinctive items using both media.

Wendy Anderson, Walker Davis and Sally Askevold. Working in a cooperative studio, the trio creates "Tiles by Fire." Their finished pieces can be seen at area galleries.

Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey. Cawdrey began painting 35 years ago. Her studio and gallery are at her home on Fox Creek Slough. She is a gifted artist in both watercolor and oils, although silk painting has become her medium of choice, using French dyes and German brushes on Chinese silk. This representational artist's themes vary widely, and include florals, landscapes, wildlife and Western images.

Tickets are available at the Bigfork Art Center gift shop beginning July 1 and are $10 per person.
