Flathead County Sheriff's Office had scores of complaints about fireworks in the past days. Among them was a call from Coram where someone reported $350 in fireworks stolen. That turned out to be a dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend, defused by a deputy. It was after midnight when a resident on Plentywood Drive called to say he'd had enough of people setting off fireworks down the street and if they didn't stop, he'd kill them.

A boy on Forest Hill Road called at about 4 a.m. to say his friend's mother hit him because she thought he stole her fireworks.

A man in Hungry Horse threw rocks at a house.

An ex-wife left harassing messages on an answering machine on Shady Lane. A resident on Sandy Hill Lane can see those harassing messages and raise the first man a kicked-in door and changes to his computer passwords.

At Lion Lake, it sounded like dynamite exploding before two men ran down a hill and yelled for someone to call 911 because there was a fire. Hungry Horse Fire Department found a smoldering tree and cooled it off. Many local fire departments got a work-out from reports of grass fires and other problems. Among them was a plume of smoke at Haywire Gulch that turned out to be just a campfire.

A camera was stolen at Foy's Lake. A Jet Ski was stolen on West Valley Drive. Medication was stolen on U.S. 2 West. A trailer was stolen on Wildebeest Lane. A boat was found floating at Caroline Point near Lakeside. A homemade tree stand vanished from Coon Springs Road. A stereo and keys were taken from a vehicle on Sandy Court.

Domestic problems were reported at El Rancho Motel. A woman reportedly threw things and tried to hit a man on Conrad Drive.

Emergency workers were prepared to shut down part of U.S. 93 near Spencer's when a gas line broke.

At about 10 a.m. Wednesday, some people camping at Sliter Park stumbled out of their tents, spewing vulgarities at the same time children were arriving at a nearby day care.

A man flagged down a Highway Patrol officer and reported an assault at Foy's Lake, but decided not to pursue charges. Three fights were reported in Hungry Horse; one man was arrested there on a partner-assault charge. A big guy reportedly tried to start trouble at a bar. A fight reportedly brewing at Sliter Park lost momentum before anyone got hurt. An older man who was pushed down and bleeding outside the Spinnaker Bar didn't want medical attention.

However an intruder got into a home on Maple Drive, he left by jumping through a window. A shop on North Springwood Road was broken into; there are two suspects. Intruders also got into Somers School. A fence was damaged at the Wild Mile Deli.

Deputies are investigating why a woman on Caroline Road was bleeding from the wrist. One person said she had been battered; she said she wasn't involved in a fight.

Someone reported a drunk driver going into Whitefish. The vehicle was found parked and a walking woman said she had too much to drink and decided to stop driving.

Unruly campers were shown the road out of Wayfarers State Park.

Happy Valley was a misnomer after one man shot another man's pit bull.
