Lakers edge Mission Valley to open Firecracker tourney

POLSON - The Kalispell Lakers A team defeated Mission Valley Senior Babe Ruth 4-3 on Friday in opening-round action of the 13th annual Firecracker baseball tournament.
Both teams did all of their scoring in the fifth inning.
Laker hurler Tony Lawrence improved to 8-0 on the season in going the distance. He gave up five hits, issued one walk and fanned five.
Jacob Scott went 2-for-4 to lead the Laker offense.
The Lakers, 29-11 overall, face Central Valley, Wash., today at 11:30 a.m.
Earlier in the week, Kalispell split with Kootenai Valley. The Lakers are 16-5 in league games.
