Will Polson ever lose?

With a 50-41 win over Columbia Falls on Friday, the Lady Pirates improved to 9-0 overall and 5-0 in Northwestern A play. Kara Huyser led three players in double figures, scoring a game-high 17 points.

"Columbia Falls played great defense and we had a hard time getting into our offense," Polson coach Bruce Thomas said. "But then we were able to get the ball into Kara in the post and huge our height advantage."

The Pirates also did a good job of keeping Columbia Falls junior Jessica Boyer in check. She made her first shot of the game, a 3-pointer, but had just a pair of free throws the rest of the way. Callie Spencer led the Wildkats (4-5, 1-3 Northwestern A) with 12 points, while Amber Lampman added seven.

"After Boyer made her first shot we got up on her," Thomas said. "We wanted to make someone else beat us, and it worked."

Polson point guard Jen Orchard had a solid game with 11 points and nine rebounds, as did Gracie Sartori, who returned strong from several illnesses to score 13 points.

The Pirates have now beaten each conference foe once, but four of the five wins have come at home. They now enter the toughest portion of their schedule, with three of their next four games on the road.

They're in action today at Stevensville at 6 p.m. Columbia Falls plays Tuesday at home against Flathead.
