Whitefish mat men top Polson in squeaker

They don't get much closer than this, folks.
In a heated Northwestern A battle, Whitefish topped Polson 40-39 Tuesday night.
Three Bulldogs - Calib Prestegaard (130 pounds), Matt Starr (135) and Matt Krause (152) - managed pins, and a 15-3 majority decision from 215-pounder Kyle Burns also helped Whitefish's cause.
Polson got pins from Shawn Medland (98), Ryan Munoz (105), Conlin Benson (119) and Josh Reed (140).
The Pirates started the night with a 49-28 win over Southwestern A foe Hamilton.
Shane Ludwick (112), Benson (119), Derrick Roberts (135) and Aaron Jones (Hwt.) all earned pins for Polson.
Ted Morigeau won his Hamilton match at 152 pounds, but was injured and forced to miss the action against Whitefish. Billy Johnson (140), who injured his elbow during the Mining City Duals last month, is expected back this week for Polson.
The Bulldogs are next in action Thursday when they travel to Frenchtown at 7 p.m. The Pirates next take the mat Jan. 19, when they host Flathead at 6:30 p.m.
